Where to sell a Dornbluth 99.1 ?
Discussion
For a variety of reasons, I've decided (I think...) that I want to move on my 99.1. I ordered it in anticipation of a significant promotion at work, and while that happened, the process to get there was quite stressful and, in a bizarre way, I'm reminded of that every time I wear it and it sort of takes the edge off a bit.
I like the watch, and very much admire the work that went into it, but not the feelings it seems to trigger
On that basis, I'm looking to get a sensible return, but with minimal risk of dealing with muppets, so suggestions on the best ways to approach that would be appreciated. I'm not one for watch forums, so don't have the post-count to be able to sell on somewhere like TZ, and I'm assuming places like Watchfinder would offer a relatively low-ball amount.
I did wonder about dropping a note to Hackett Watches, and I'll advertise it on here in due course, but also interested in other options. And please don't anyone suggest ebay...
Thanks all.
Just a pessimistic viewpoint to let you know why im not interested.
If i were buying from them i would want to go thorough the correspondence and personalisation with them not end up with wither a very nice but it ff the peg watch, or a watch built to anothers spec.
This to me suggests, whilst agreeing that i may be in a majority of one, that the price would have to be low enough to get the casual observer to look at this other than a tag or a omega. At thos price point are you sure you want to sell as you have one hell of a watch?
If you do just take the first reasonable offer and dont think about what could of been.

Having ordered a 99.1 due in May 2016 I agree with the aboveIf i were buying from them i would want to go thorough the correspondence and personalisation with them not end up with wither a very nice but it ff the peg watch, or a watch built to anothers spec.

However there are, I suspect, plenty of "I want it now" people who will take it off your hands.
OP are you certain? I appreciate the feelings it may evoke now but maybe that will change?
Nick,
Can you post up a few more details about your 99.1 please:
Face colour
Blued Hands ?
Printed dial version ?
Comes with box, papers and warranty
Strap(s) with watch
Any personal engravings on watch
Piccies would be great
I may be in the market if a few things go my way this week and next

Sorry to those who've sent messages to which I've not yet replied or followed up on - been travelling with work so just catching up on a few things.
Not trying to mess anyone around, just been a tad busy unfortunately, so didn't have a chance to take any decent pictures, but below are a couple of pictures for those who are interested.

Morning Nick,
Thanks for replying
Lovely piece but my heart is set on the blued hands and black numbers options so I'll have to keep trawling the classifieds.
Do they go for much of a discount second hand or would you just be better off buying new and getting the exact spec you want and knowing that it is completely "yours"? Thanks for replying

I might just bite the bullet and email Dirk and kick things off

Out of interest what made you choose the red 12? Its just that is what I have chosen for mine but with a black dial (see below on right)
I saw a Stowa with a red 12 and liked the look, if not that particular watch.Subsequent to that I did see another dornbluth with a red 12, and it looked lovely, hence speccing it for mine.
About the only explanation for the red 12 I've found on the interweb is this link:

Good luck with the sale if that is the route you chose.
