Has anyone been able to successfully pair an iPhone6 to a BMW of this age ?

Any way to get this working ?

I had no issues pairing an iPhone 6 to our last X5, also a 2005 car.

I just paired my iPhone 6s Plus (iOS 9.0.2) with my 2011 LCI E70 - no problem with basic phone functions, calls lists, address book and Bluetooth audio streaming - all working just fine. 'Fraid I can't advise on the E53.

Hi,

The X5 of that year will have a particular 'revision' of the bluetooth module. It's shared with other BMW's like the E46 and the earlier modules, with the E39 for instance. They're getting very old now so newer handsets might not work as well or at all. That said, you can try swapping to a newer 'generation' of BT modules, for these cars and the type of audio system, there's 13 generations and the later ones theoretically should be more compatible as it were. They also get more pricey too, with later ones being £200+ to get. Also, look at some of the modules used in MINI's as they went up to the 2009/10 model year I believe and can work in the X5, E46 and E39 I believe.

Iphones also have the best chance of compatibility as well.

Cheers, Dennis!

My iPhone works with my e39 Bluetooth (should be similar or the same) with absolutely no problems.

You probably just need to delete any stored phones to make space for pairing the new phone.

Google for the procedure and then pair.
