I have recently bought an E60 M5 and am a bit anal about service records and car history, especially with individual cars like this. For this reason I decided to contact all the BMW dealers that have had a look at my car since new. Got these details from a BMW service number. First garage I contacted, really helpful told me what had been done etc etc. Second garage said that they could only tell me that it came in for a service on a date, but would not elaborate. It had been to them 3 times with various faults ,buy he would not give me any details.
Where do I stand on this, I dont want any details about the previous owner, just about the cars history.
Over its lifetime its visited BMW garages 36 times so got a bit of work to do!!!

BMW Customer Service say that the garage/dealer will give you the history details.

However, I have yet to get one to respond regarding my car.
They offer the blackmail of 'you come for a service and we will give it to you', but that is a difficult when they are hundreds of miles away.
Grr.

My local BMW dealer are always reluctant to pass out any details of previous warranty/repair work that was done on my car. "Policy" they say...

Thanks guys its not just me then. All this cloak and dagger stuff seems crazy to me. I recon that they are worried about coming back to them for poor workmanship!
