Does anyone know of any warranty friendly mods that will give the exhaust a bit more crackle and pop ...?

Hi

I have just fitted a CG Precision exhaust valve controller to my M3. £155 from the states with £30 duty. Fantastic bit of kit. Allows me to open the valves up in any mode and hear the full exhaust sound at any revs.

I bought this in the hope it would stave off buying an upgraded exhaust. It definately has. Downshifts are so good now.....

Hello Matt, is it a fiddle to fit?

Very easy to fit although i did cheat and got a friend with a ramp to do it. Two bolts and some connectors to plug in etc and its done.

just pull out the exhaust flap block connectors and cable tie them up..full sound all the time. not intrusive imo, costs zero, no lights on dash, completely reversible, you can plug them back in. it can drone a little bit on the motorway but i dont do much motorway mileage

Doesn't switching the throttle response to Sport or Sport plus, do the same thing??

No, i think the valves open at 4k rpm. Although i have always thought they have a mind of there own.

Hmm, well mine goes noisier even at idle....

Perhaps that's just halfway open then??

Will have a play tomorrow, normally only use eco and sport for the engine setting. Can't tell the difference at idle, only when pushing on.

I have a brand new, unused CG valve controller available for £140 if anyone is interested.

I had a go at disconnecting the valve wires and found that the interior noise generator stopped working, so it actually sounded quieter inside the cabin. Preferred it as standard than unplugged.

I wonder if the same thing happens with the USA bit of kit plugged in?
