A good, if cold, day good to meet you (haylingjag), and others to pick up a few tips. Although I spent most of the day letting others past it was enjoyable.
Learnt a few things;
- I need to sort out my suspension
- I need some instruction
- I need more power!
The standard 1.6 brakes with Pagrid pads and better fluid were fine.
I was having issues with the tyres rubbing on the body on a couple of the corners, need to sort out the inner arches and/or arch lips.
Had a fairly big will it spin won't it yes it will moment on the main runway, luckily lot's of space, and ended the day with a telling off for clipping one too many cones... Finished the day when exuberance was greater than ability.
Will certainly be going again and also trying Hullavington. Well run event with enough space not to have to worry about getting in other people =s way.
The Aston Martin DB3 volante sounded brilliant as well, I followed it round on the sighting laps.
Glad everyone had a good time. I stupidly forgot to check for car descriptions on this thread before heading out, so I just wandered about speaking to people - as ever a friendly bunch at an MSE day.
I've emailed MSE about the photographer. I think it was ACK Photography, but not sure - I'll post when they reply.
Sadly lack of electricity ended play for me - my alternator gave up the ghost, but I was nice and warm in the AA van on the way home. I thoroughly enjoyed the track layout which I thought suited big and small cars alike. As with other MSE days, I found the driving standards were pretty good, with minimal waving of the naughty flag required.
As an aside, I had two tuition sessions with Anthony and he was very good. I know 88% were experienced drivers, but I really do think that the most cost effective way to go faster is driver training, at least for a novice.

Interesting to hear about the tuition something I'm considering for next time, do you go out in your own car?
Yep - you book sessions in your own car and get advice during/after each run. Generally they let you drive three laps to observe, then feedback, drive a few more laps, feedback, few more laps, feedback and things to work on, then done. The Caterham's open so talking on track is impossible, but they do live feedback in closed cars I believe. One thing I did this time that I haven't before is made notes on the main points - which if I review them before the next trackday means I should progress, instead of forgetting them and needing a session of tuition just to get back to where I was at the end of the previous trackday.

Ahh smitters were you in the black Elise at the end of the day? Although come to think of it I saw a flatbed coming for it instead of AA.
Good news that those photos might surface though! I still have never had tuiton, I do need to get round to doing it!
Red Caterham. I departed about four in the end. Sad to hear the black Elise died too - that looked a bit rapid.Good news that those photos might surface though! I still have never had tuiton, I do need to get round to doing it!
Great news on the photos - I've never had a good amateur trackday photo taken - it's just too fast for most people's point and shoot/i/happy-snaps kit and usually wildly blurred.

Photos will be online tomorrow.
Sorry for the delay but had to do some demolishing of a 1970s fireplace & surround over the weekend to keep SWMBO happy.
Also I was out yesterday throwing the Atom around under the tutelage of Ed.

Great - do please post a link if you're allowed. I got a bit giddy and trawled through 30 pages before realising the reason I wasn't appearing was because it was Abingdon in 2014! Here's hoping for a good shot or two.Sorry for the delay but had to do some demolishing of a 1970s fireplace & surround over the weekend to keep SWMBO happy.

Finally there all done and dusted and upload (no thanks to BT or Sky)Here's the link - http://www.ack-photography.co.uk/galleryView.php?g...
You can search the images by make/model etc to narrow the search down unless you have an MX5 (seems quite a popular car ) where you'll have to search through quite a few.

p.s. slightly abused BT Openreach modem and fried Sky router for sale - free to collect from my dustbin
