Anybody done a turkey on the BBQ?

Any tips?

I have the Weber electric rotisserie attachment. There's a good YouTube video but thought I would ask on here too.

Thanks in advance!

Id be surprised if it could take the weight. Maybe a small one would be ok.

^^^ This. Unbelievable results. Inject with marinade 24-48 hours before for best flavour.

Look forward to trying this!

By the way, is the Weber rotisserie worth the money over cheap alternatives?

I did Xmas turkey on the bbq, cooked indirectly, not on a rotisserie. Everyone present (including an American) said it was the best turkey they'd had. I followed the instructions below and used fresh sage under the skin.

Thanks all.

WRT the Weber rotisserie, mine has proved a robust piece of kit. In fact I leave the extra ring on the BBQ all the time as it doubles the cooking 'height'.

I've skewered two chickens on it (sounds a bit dodgy that!), a big pork roast and am thinking about suckling pig but it'll have to be a small one.

Brief update.

I BBQed a 14.5lbs Butterball turkey and it was delicious.

Cooking time was 4 hrs, first half wrapped in foil, second half without to crisp up the skin.

I put Jamie Oliver´s cranberry butter under the skin.

Just an absolutely sensationally juicy and tasty turkey!
