Have to admit, both of those look *very* similar, from the bonnet length to the rear window.

I think it looks a lot like an f-type. Not that that is a bad thing!

If it's got enough poke, could be what the GT86 could've been.

Didn't Mazda say they were shelving rotary development for the forseeable future when they finished with the RX-8? Between emissions regs, the inevitability of rotor tip wear meaning a short engine lifespan compared to a piston engine and the terrible MPG, they have a mountain to climb to make an engine that can stand shoulder to shoulder with modern piston engines.

The silhouette in the picture looks nice, I wouldn't be surprised if it come to market with a 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo though.

Those are an issue if you use the rotary to drive the wheels directly. As a hybrid they are very efficient. Mazda have lots of patents on this recently.

I very much doubt this'll be priced against the GT86 if it happens. I'd guess a starting price of at least £30k.

the RX8 depreciated because the novelty engine didn't last long.
If the new one depreciates quickly, it'll be because " BAD POINTS - Smokes a bit on start up, otherwise a good motor" appearing in the adverts!

yes that's the worst looking car Mazda have designed since... the original Mazda 2, probably.

ETA: although I don't know if that render came from Mazda...

I can live with drinking oil if it looks that good.

When they announce it, I'm putting a deposit down. Still miss my RX8 PZ.
