04 reg PD150 developed starting issues

My 04 reg Golf PD150 has for the last 249,000 miles started immediately, with the starter motor being almost unnoticeable. However, over the last week I've noticed that the engine won't restart unless it's been off for about 5 minutes. Still starts immediately from cold, and runs as smooth as it ever did. It's almost like it's out of fuel, engine turns over briskly but nothing.

Common problem?

It'll be going in this week, but just left me looking daft at the newsagents this morning hence the post.

Probably the engine power relay, the infamous Relay 109. Very common.
