Recommend Metal to Metal Glue

Looking for a metal glue to permanently seal one of these chain links:

Anyone recommend this or something better?

I'm sure that would work,unless someone applied heat to it.

By sealing, you mean preventing it being opened again? A thread locking compound will that well. As pointed out a blow torch to it will release it again.

A dab of Araldite or JB weld would work.

Thanks all - yes - sealed meaning not to be opened again.

I'm not to worried about it being openable with a blowtorch - that's fair enough - or cuttable with bolt-cutters.

I just want it really well stuck in a way that is practically impossible to open by turning - even if gripped with pliers, wrenches etc.

Just weld it. You'll never make something impossible to open as a big spanner is pretty cheap and a lot of force can be applied easily.

You could weld it, but someone wanting it opened would just crop it

Araldite would work - or simply do it up tight enough that you chew up the hex with your spanner.

I haven't got access to welding equipment and it could of still be cut then - I just want to close the really obvious 'weak link'!!!

I'll give araldite or JB weld a go and tighten really, really tight - hopefully that will be enough.

I suppose you never know if the joint has worked until you really go at it hard enough to break it - and I don't want it to break - so I'll probably only test it with pliers.

In which case, files the corners of the hex's off. Not great, but not bad - will prevent an adjustable or cheap spanner being effective.

Close it F.T., then weld it, then file the flats off to make it round, then drill it and cross pin it. Finally, add two more, as it will be made of Chinese monkey cheese metal anyway! Or put a padlock in place.....

As it is plated sanding or chewing up the hex might lead it to rusting.

Use a good quality padlock.

Smear it on the thread, tighten, let it set (airing cupboard is good) and it's not coming undone. Only a small nut, how much torque can you apply to that?
