Good morning,

I've recently fit new headers to the Ro and I'm getting a lot of vibration through the car on the driver side. I knew it was a tight fit but I think the offside 45 degree leg brace is making contact with part of the header with engine movement. My question is...do I need it or can I remove it? I had to remove it to get the header in and to be honest it must be there for a reason but I don't think bending it will help and if I do it may not fit afterwards. Does anyone have any info on this?

Didn't realise people were removing these - so has anyone with no leg braces and no strut brace (max effort FI crew) had any issues?

Like I was saying they must be there for a reason :P I'd be paranoid, one bad pothole and god knows what could happen and I've got coilovers to fit next biggrin

Have you tried slacking of the nuts and moving the bracket backwards or forwards to get a better fit as it has slotted holes. Mine are tight but I've had zero vibration from them . There may be a small amount of movement in the header also .
Are you sure it's not the heat shield on the rack as I did get vibrations from this but just kept tweeking it till it stopped and it's been ok since

Rather than removing the brackets if you are worried, what about new engine mounts? If you are happy to put up with a little more NVH. Less engine movement is only a positive thing.

There are upgraded items available. A set are on my list along with some other bushes I want.

I shaved the edge down a bit. Didn't need much taken out and still has structural integrity.

I've read if you are going to stiffen the engine mounts you also want to stiffen the trans mounts to avoid loading up the bell housing. How much truth there is in that and at what power levels it's a concern I don't know...but I'm going to poly bush both (NVH be damned).

Yep if you stiffen up the engine mounts you need to do the transmission mounts as well.

I would advise caution on the trans mount. I did this and went back to stock due to bad vibration.

Don't know about the engine mount though.

You can notch the brace.

Think it is these ones the GTO forums tend to talk about.

Plenty of reviews over on LS1GTO of them, to give you an idea of what to expect.

They are what I am planning on picking up at some stage, plus they're red which is always a bonus when my car is red.

There's also Hinson, but they're a sod to get directly (silly postage charges).

Gareth, I reserve the right to take them off again smile
