It's time to admit defeat with the runflats on the 20" wheels, so we're going to drop to a 19" rim & get non runflats.

The rims currently (std BMW MSport) have 9J x 20 EH2+ stamped into a spoke on the back of them, I measured the offset to be 43mm, on a different spoke there is IS44 stamped in to them, so I guess the actual ofset is 44?

Talking with the wheel people it seems BBS CH-R are the ones to go for, in gloss Anthracite they come in 8.5x19 et32 and 9.5x19 et35 he said that is the size BBS recommend for BMs, but I really want a more staggered look like they are here The Sliver version as in that link come in 9x19 et20 for the rear & 8x19 et40 for the fronts. So they sound better to be as they keep the scrub radius much the same for the fronts & fill out the rear much better. I've checked & there is at least 35mm of clearance on as much compression I can get.

So really I just want to double check if anyone knows if the standard wheels are actually ET44 or my calculations go out of the window!

Or you could try non runflat tyres, the OH has a F80 D3 which runs 20's & the ride is surprisingly good.

The OEM F13 (6 series Coupe, but not M6) staggered wheels (both 20 and 19 inch) are ET 33 front, 44 rear. Some of the 18 inch staggered sets are ET 30 front, ET 44 rear. Non staggered wheels are ET 30.

For the M6, summer wheels are ET 31 front, ET 19 rear, the winters are ET 32 front, ET 25 rear.

IS means "Inset" which is the same as ET (Einpresstiefe).

If your wheels are marked IS44 this is the same as ET44.

There will be a tolerance on these dimensions, so your measurement/calc is correct.

Thats what I want to do, just we don't really like the MSport wheels, so it a good excuse to drop to 19" & get some new ones.

Perfect thanks smile

I didn't realize the fronts were a different size & offset, I checked they are. You'd have thought if BMW were going to the trouble of making a different wheel they could make them look like they had a different offset!

Good to know thanks for that too, glad I can get something right.
