Discussion
I've become a bit neurotic about my steering and I wonder if someone could advise/reassure.
With the car running but stationary and the wheel unlocked, I can turn the wheel 10 degrees from centre to right without any movement of the front wheels. I think this persists while on the move but it's a little difficult as at 12 degrees (roughly) the car starts turning sharply.
I've replaced one track rod (and end). Part of my concern is that I'm booked in with Center of Gravity in a few weeks to get everything optimised and I'm wondering if they'll be able to do anything if there's a fundamental problem.
Is it a case of TADTS or do I have a genuine problem (and if so what?)
Thanks in advance for any help.

Agreed, possibly one of the most sensitive steering cars I have driven. I had a quick rack on my VX220, but the TVR seems quicker still. I sometimes find it too quick in that when you are going over bumpy roads (most of the british roads!) it squirms around a bit. I will be booking into to C&G too I think sometime next year.

Yep easy to do but check the rack, spot the bottom UJ as you turn the wheel slightly from side to side, you will see where the movement/play is. From what you describe it does sound like the rack, the OS rack bush has a hard life, this deals with thrust from the pinion when you turn the wheel so if worn the rack bobs up and down before it moves sideways. There is a bush in the body tub where the column exits, check this hasn't risen up the column.
You can increase preload to help but it dull the steering and stop its self centre action when the wheel is released.
