PH & BookATrack Caterham competition

Win a track day in a Caterham with tuition through PistonHeads and BookATrack

PistonHeads and BookaTrack have teamed up to give away the ultimate track day prize every month until the end of the year.

Each month, BookaTrack is giving away a Caterham R300 track day hire worth at least £995 at a specified UK track day with tuition to the competition winner. It covers every cost including the track day itself, insurance and fuel for the Caterham. All you have to do to enter is subscribe to Speed Matters, our weekly email newsletter, and complete the form that you'll find on the newsletter once a month. It's as easy as that! Keep an eye out each month as the competition will change over and you'll need to re-enter for each prize. Please note that dates cannot be chosen and we are unable to swap dates.

So that's a day on a great track in the UK in a 180hp Caterham, with expert tuition and maybe even some sunshine if you're lucky. All for subscribing to the newsletter! Sign up to Speed Matters here and keep an eye out in your inbox.

If you're not lucky enough to win, you can still book a Caterham with BookaTrack or take your own car out with like-minded enthusiasts, so check out the dates available on its website.

These cars are great. Rented one at brands a couple of months ago. What a machine!

It's a pity that this competition doesn't cater for PH'ers with physical disabilities, I'd love a day of track tuition but can't physical get into a Caterham.

redcard

It's not much of a competition if you have to fork out £2.5k!!

The winner will be required to provide a debit or credit card with a minimum of £2,500.00 of credit available at the start of the event to be authorised in the event of an accident.

Frankly if they can't write in English I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Is there an opportunity to pay a bit more to reduce that excess? That would appear to be possible with other trackday organisers.

Sounds like a similar set-up to standard trackday insurance - 10% of the car's value as excess. Yes it's steep, and puts me off, but if it's a really big deal, then a Caterham run experience day is probably a better bet than driving a hire car at an open event.

For anyone worrying about the excess, you'd be incredibly unlucky to do that kind of damage with BaT in a Caterham. The instructors Jonny uses are all very familiar with the cars, and are all very experienced, so providing you listen to what they say, there's no reason to have an kind of accident.

If the worst did happen, you'd also need to be doing some to require a claim in the insurance. I did 5 years of Caterham racing, and never did more than a couple of hundred quids worth of damage going wheel to wheel with others. There was maybe 1 or 2 people a year out of 35 cars who needed to claim on their insurance....

Whoever wins this will have an awesome time. R300s are a great car on track smile

Have you tried an SV chassis out of interest? Significantly more spacious and a lot easier to get in and out of as the cage openings are much larger...

I have some disability problems - hence the Bentley Turbo R track car. Watch out next year for it and come and find me!

BaT are a brilliant setup, people looking to pick holes should go and try one of their days then readjust their criticisms.

Never driven one of their hire cars, but they always look to be well prepped - never seen them with naff tyres and all sorts of handling issues a la karting places, and never seen a breakdown.

If we were still doing trackdays, BaT would be top of the list of promoters I'd look at.
