Where can I find a list of requirements for a road legal car

I'm going to be building a track car soon, but would like to keep it road legal. I was wondering if there is a list of requirements to keep the car road legal, so I know what I can and cannot do!

Easiest way is to take a road legal car, and then go through the MOT test to see what needs to remain.

Important bits are stuff like windscreen demisters, airbags and ABS can be removed if all of it is removed.
