A6 C5 Avant

I'm on the hunt for a C5 A6 Avant, ideally a 2.5TDi 180 auto, but there don't seem to be many around. Does anyone know of any available that I wouldn't have seen on AT or eBay?

Would also consider a 2.8 or 4.2 petrol, or a 2.7t at a push, but they must be auto (not CVT!).

Any pointers appreciated!

There's also a 3 litre petrol to consider - facelift models only. It's also quattro only so gets the tip box by default.

We had a Sport quattro Avant as my wife's last car - owned it for 6 years and not much went wrong. Had the box serviced as a precaution but it was due a 2nd cambelt change in our ownership so decided to move it along before we had to cough for it!

The 3.0 is also on the list, although they only ever seem to be sold by Unobtanium Motors Ltd.

What sort of dosh are you thinking of spending? Early C6s are getting silly cheap now and the newer V6s are much better at doing big miles than the 2.5 ever was.

EDIT: 4motion Passats too. Old Audi 2.8 V6 and tip box.

Only really looking at up to £3k. One of my requirements is a towing capacity of at least 2 tonnes, so that rules out most cars, including the Passat. It also rules out any diesel A6 below the 2.5 180bhp, hence why I'm finding it hard to find something!

The C6 is a much better car with a stronger drivetrain and they're getting really close on money now. A private sale or auction car might only be a drink above that budget. Saloons are down there already.

Possibly - I can't tell from that advert whether to expect that car to have Bluetooth for handsfree calling and audio streaming? The beauty of a C5 is that it's a simple head-unit swap to get that (essential) functionality, and I already have one...

I would never recommend that C5 2.5. I think that generation of Audis is rubbish. Of all the cars I've owned, that 2.5 Tdi engine is the only one that has ever destroyed itself.

Both can be added quite easily with a little Dension kit.
