E38 735i Dash issues, any help please ?

Hello chaps.

Mates E38 735i, 1998.

Today the instrument cluster has stopped working, no speedo, rev counter, fuel gauge, temp gauge, service indicator, or fault display.

The whole lot still lights up (dash lights).

Any ideas please ?

On my E32, it suffered similar, down to dry soldier joints, never experienced on the E38. I'd suggest he gets over to here, as they should know the cause: http://the7seriesregister.co.uk/forums/index.php?s...

I was asking about today and surprised to find scrap yards not full of spares for these anymore, the good yards, like FAB.

I've had a stroke of luck with it, I did the old disconnect the battery for half an hour trick that I've learnt with my E39, and it is all working again ......... for now at least !
