The main cable still works fine but the normal plug in one blew a fuse and now wont show the correct charging lights. - anybody had this issue ? Who do you go to to check it out - local BMW service centre had no clue about where to get a replacement fuse ( internet eventually - 10amp - very odd ) so they won't be any help .Who do I go to ?

So the charger's only meant to pull <10A, but is trying to pull more. You could try a 13A fuse, which would be the norm for UK plugs (remember - Euro plugs are unfused), but I suspect that might blow, too. Sounds like the charger's not properly detecting the power source and limiting current draw.

Erm, don't put a bigger fuse in it for starters.

Have you thoroughly checked it over for damage? Connections all nice and clean, no crud inside etc..:

After that, can you get hold of another one?

It lights up the power light and the 'ground ' light whatever that is and the charging light flicks on for a moment before the red not charging light comes on. So it is getting power and it plugs in to the same socket on the car as the wall charger does which works fine - so a bit of a mystery. BMW on line don't seem to sell it in the accessories shop despite having a picture of it in the sales bumf and as I recall it was not cheap so I would rather not have to buy another just because nobody at BMW servicing knows what an I car is !!
My plan is to see if it works in another i3 - if so the problem is with the car.

I had the car specified to take fast AC charging and having tried plugging in to a couple of public chargers But I have never got it to work - BMW service blamed the public charge points - anybody else had problems with the fast AC charge ?
