Hi all
As per title really. How do people insure their second / weekend / fun cars?

The way i see it is that insuring 2 cars should cost no more than insuring one because obviously i can only drive one at a time. But that doesnt seem to be how it works, unless im looking in the wrong place.

Thanks

"Hello, Mr Insurer? Can you give me a quote for..."

"No, I don't have any spare NCB, but I do have X years on another policy."

So whilst you're out in one car, the other one won't be nicked, hit whilst parked, catch fire, or otherwise need a claim? You can absolutely, faithfully, utterly promise that?

Admiral or any of the multi car policies for normal cars, remember to adjust your mileages accordingly.

I insure all 4 of mine separately. I use A-Plan where you can talk to a human being. When I had 3 they mirrored the no claims I had when I got the 4th no problem.

The odds of needing to claim against both cars at once are tiny. If the one at home is nicked then the odds youll have crashed the one you are driving are tiny. If you crash the one you are driving, the odds of something happening to the one sat at home are tiny.

I read a post on here recently where someone said 1 car 750 2 cars 800 to insure. But when i was looking i couldnt get anywhere near that, they wanted 450 for the second car alone.

Adjusting the mileage on my current policy from 12k down to 6k saves me only about a fiver a month basically nothing.

If you only have no-claims on one car then find an Insurer who will mirror the no-claims. Multicar policies are pretty meh at the moment. Some OK, but mostly more worthwhile to have two seperate policies.

He's not the only one. I've seen pictures of somebody who parked his Citroen DS on his sloping drive - and the handbrake failed to hold it... It rolled down the drive, through the garage door, and into his Bentley Turbo R...

Yeah i get this, but its no cheaper. I pay about 450 a year on my current car with full no claims and for 12k miles. Its only marginally cheaper for 6k miles. So 2 cars at 6k each means 450 for each one if they mirror the no claims. Which is bonkers.i need a way to get both for 5 to 600.

Its not the cars. Ford mondeo 2 litre tdci current car costs me 450. A bmw 530i 3 litre would cost just under 600. If i had both doing the same total mileage i surely shouldnt have to pay 1050?
