Sealing sandstone walls
Discussion
I have a fireplace but it was easier to think in terms of walls....
Having visited the B&Q emporium and found nothing I am wondering if floor sealant is the way to go? The purpose of the sealant is to keep out the dirt and retain as much as possible the warm glow of red sandstone rather than see it turn dark from numerous fires albeit in a log burner.
The ideal finish is not knowing there is a sealant there at all, no shiny finish please either...
Thoughts?

I'm not sure I see the point in trying to seal stone that is just going to get slightly warmed by a stove. It won't get any dirtier than the other walls in the house, unless you're throwing the stove ash at them!
Sandstone has to be the most porous stone out there, if you leant on it with a dirty hand you would leave a mark. You only have to look at the houses in Yorkshire to see how dirty they get and ultimately depressing looking.Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
