Small Tracking Devices.....
Discussion
Funny I was looking for something similar for my bicycle this morning! It seems you can get small GPS devices that include what is basically a mobile phone and PAYGO sim. Once armed if it detects movement then it sends SMS messages with the position. More expensive ones can be tracked online at any time but there is a trade off with battery life.
On the other hand have you thought about better securing the van? I.e alarm and securely anchoring any high value equipment? I guess you might have the issue of providing the thieving scroatbags with the tools to break locks.

Something like that i guess.....too big to hide in the device iteslf but would go in the carry case though having gps tracker written on it is not really going to work lol but i could paint over that and maybe label it as a necessary accessory for the analyser then hopefully it will just be ignored as i doubt very much they've any idea what the analyser is all about anyway !!colin79666 said:

Yes, also looking into deadlock or slamlocks This is getting expensive lol......On the other hand have you thought about better securing the van? Not even sure how they got into my van as there was no damage and it was locked so can only think they scanned me using my key fob

Dead locks are a must, just had mine done, locks4vans dead locks fitted, thatcham approved alarm with text alert, so I know if it's being broken into.
Security isn't cheap, but it's cheaper than new tools
How do you get on with the locks ? Are they a pain, assume you have to manually lock and unlock all the time ?Security isn't cheap, but it's cheaper than new tools

I don't find them a pain at all, yeah you have to lock them or risk getting your tools nicked. Unfortunately slam locks are the only other alternative and you have to unlock them every time you shut the door.Disco_Biscuit said:

I bought an ex utilities Ford Transit Connect which came with slam locks. I was sceptical about shutting the door and leaving my (only) key in the van, and then being buggered. I swapped out the solid bulkhead for one which could open on the passenger side to allow longer loads to pass through. I never did need to get in the back because of shutting my keys in there though! But better safe than sorry, or have a spare key!
The slam locks lock as soon as you shut the door and they catch. One disadvantage was having to use two hands to open the door. One turning the key and one to pull the handle, so everything needs to be put down on the floor, prior to unlocking and putting your gear inside. I wouldn't find it a problem having them again though. The front doors were separate and could be used with the remote key fobs, but the back was always safe.

Dead locks/slam locks and a good alarm and parking in a well lit area keep most of the s away,
