Hey all, just wondering what sort of annual milage people do in their 7's? I take mine out any chance I get, is there anything I should be looking out for in terms of maintained? Eg do too many long trips take its toll?

The more miles you do, the more stone chips you'll collect. Also, you'll find the side screens chafe on the paint work, so it's worth putting some protective film on these points. My Seven has done 21000 miles since April 2011, and you can definitely see it's been used. I drive rain or shine, but when the salt goes down it comes off the road frown

What's the point in having a car if you don't drive it though? The mechanical parts are very under stressed on a Seven compared with the cars they were designed for, so they should be good for high mileages given regular oil changes and servicing.

Of course if you want to get all your money back when you come to sell, you'd better leave it in the garage as more than 2000 miles a year scares off buyers.
But as we only live once, just drive it and enjoy yourself. Do take it on track occasionally too, it's great fun biggrin

Before long Duncan will overtake me, my home built car was born 8 years ago this month & ticked over 30,000 miles today.

I remember seeing Duncans shiny new car at the East Sussex meet when it was very new. I suggested getting rid of the ditch finder tyres if you remember. smile

Yes thanks Martin, and I still have the rubber O rings on by bonnet springs too smile

My Seven hasn't been abroad yet though, you've travelled further afield.

Mine's just ticked over 19k - it was on just under 12k when I bought it in October 2012.

I think I generally do about 3k a year, but due to a house move this year the car's done two trackdays and pretty much nothing else.

I must admit, I was wondering if there's point in me keeping the car last week, I just haven't had enough time to go out and drive it recently. Shame since I've only just gotten a house with a garage where I can keep it!

Not sure what the average is - but I've now done over 300K miles...

Is that with the same chassis?
Anyway, that is good going in any car let alone a Seven. I think I would get there in another 36 years if I keep going as I have done. Not sure I'll be able to get in a Seven at 86 though biggrin

We've had our 13 1/2 years and are around 36,000 now. In no way do I consider that excessive mileage, and a few visitors agreed.

Trying hard to sell it as there's this TR6 I want for retirement from Se7ening. The fact there's stone chips is reflected in my setting the price -£1,000 so the new buyer can have it painted whatever colour they want.

You can't hide from stone chips - yes there's some things you can sort-of do, but they fly all over the place (including stones into the cockpit!) so we as a community need to be clear that "Chips Happen".
