Good lady of mine bought a 2013 JCW Mini from our local Mini dealer approx 3 months ago.
On getting the car home - first thing was to open the bonnet and see what's inside.
Noticed the intake hose from the air filter to the turbo had come loose at the turbo.
Just a hose clip so refitted the thing thinking that would be it.
Couple of times after that - again noticed the intake had come off.
Booked the car in for its first service and mentioned this to the dealer. They checked it over and mentioned it all looking okay.
Since then - I have refitted it another couple of times.
Any ideas what's happening?
Cheers

Here's what I have been finding:-

Clean everything up and see how long it holds together for this time:-

A very common issue on the diesels, this is the first instance I've seen it on a petrol model though.

It could be a weak hose perhaps, or if the dealer said ok, assuming they checked fault codes etc, I wonder if there is new software, maybe a DME update will alter the symptoms, beyond that try to establish what driving behaviour causes it, so light or heavy throttle, cold/hot, gentle or abrupt release, as it will save time and expense later if you can reproduce it at will for them.

My 08 MCS also does this, other then cleaning it and hoping that it stays on. Which it won't. Personally i have found that if you tighten the jubilee clip to much then it will come off, i leave mine a little loose just pinched up and stays on far longer.

Its a design flaw in my eyes, its impossible to clamp something like that on such a smooth short piece of pipe on the turbo.

Pain in the arse, but just keep checking it. Same routine with checking the oil level more regular then most as they do use more oil then i would call normal, but according to BMW its acceptable.

You need a new clip as that one has failed once its weakened and will give in again.
There are better types of clamps that will secure it better.

My Merc Sprinter kept doing this same thing, it needed a new collar (the green thing) as it had got slippery!! over time.
It was fitted with superglue and the existing clamp, been fine ever since.

After cleaning all the parts using panel wipe - I noticed the green silicon bush went slightly 'tacky'.
And after refitting everything, the hose has went from popping off every couple of days to still remaining fitted a fortnight later.
Admit I can live with that so I'll see how long this 'fix' works.
