I'd like to think I'm a reasonable and rational person. And I certainly don't advocate violence or vigilantism.
However, on this occasion, I think I'd actually quite enjoy seeing the utter fking scum who perpetrated this getting a damn good kicking.

What sort of world do we live in where people think it's acceptable to do this to a frail pensioner, a man who has served his country and was apparently a pillar of his community?

Latest news is that two 19 year old have been arrested and bailed. If it's them let's hope they meet some equally nasty sorts on the inside.

It's an absolutely appalling crime. Let's hope the Detectives are able to find out who did it.

If the evidence isn't there to charge, it isn't there.

Depending on who you want to believe between 5 & 10% of the prison population is ex-forces.

When a D-Day Veteran I used to drink with passed away an Officer attended the service to pay repects on behalf of his old Regiment.

With those two facts in mind I'd imagine there are a couple of pieces of filth that will be very grateful for a few years of solitary.

I am in no way making excuses, but old people do bruise very easily, so the mans injuries, while horrible, are probably much worse because of his age.

I think I know what your trying to say but that's why you don't beat old folk up let alone young folk.

Also have ADD, seems to be the latest claim for mitigation, then broken home, then recent father, then...

And keep being listened to by the bench. One chance for mitigation, once the card played then not again.

Absolute scum. Heart warming to see that the go-funding campaign has almost replaced his lost money at least. I just hope he recovers to see it.
Incomprehensible that people can do things like this.

The crowd funding site is at 28k so hopefully his money will be there for him coming around, looks like he's been tortured for the whereabouts of the safe

The latest statement from South Yorkshire Police said a 23-year-old man arrested in connection with the assault has been “released with no further action”.

“Two 19-year-old men continue to help police with enquiries,” it adds.

Obviously one should be able to keep 30k at home without fear of it being nicked, or worse, but why on earth would you? Bizarre.

30k is 100% government guaranteed. It makes no sense.
