Removing paint from bodywork

I have bought a car that has had a cheap respray directly onto lacquer - whats the best way to remove it please? Will thinners get it off?

Start with the minimum first.

I'd try claying it then nail varnish remover if that doesn't work. If sill not coming off a machine polish with a cutting compound.

If none of that works you are looking at sanding it. Might get away with wet and dry and not have to repaint.
