Greetings PH'ers.

For the last 2 years I've been doing fairly heavy mileage, for which I get the majority of my mileage paid for. I'm currently doing around 2,500 miles a month in a leggy V70 D5, which does the job fine, however I'm sick of stop start traffic and long for a wafty comfortable auto barge.

I have a budget of around 10K, which should get me a decent example of a facelift car, with relatively low mileage.

The problem I have is, after having a look around, BMW never built the car I want. I really don't like the chrome trim on the SE, and I generally prefer the look of the Sport models. I really wanted the comfort seats, however I understand these were not an option on the sport cars, gah. To muddy the waters further, I prefer the standard sports seats to the standard SE seats.

After that, I've realised that I don't really have much of a clue as to what options are nice to have / must have. What I believe is true is that all 05> facelift cars have the latest electronics / nav iDrive etc, and that the LCI sports have Direct Drive as standard which is considered a must have on the forums I've read.

I've been to see one car, and viewed some ad's, and it seems the common factor is that most cars can be listed as "fully loaded" and have standard spec.

I've heard of soft close doors, power boot etc, and annoyingly it seems the SE cars appear to be specced better generally than the sports.

Any pointers gratefully recieved. I should have mentioned I'm looking solely at the 730d.

Not sure on spec as not much is listed.

Sort of.

As an update, I can confirm that information on these cars is harder to come by than most other cars I've bought and researched online.

I picked up an LCI E66 long wheelbase car last week, I'll stick a readers cars thread up shortly.
