Just wondering............

With the impending massive cost to the VAG group of the VW diesel software scandal do we think this might have an effect on Audi for 2016 for the WEC and more importantly the 24 hours ?

Mueller stated "We will review all planned investments, and what isn’t absolutely vital will be cancelled or delayed," I suppose it comes down to is motorsport an "investment" and is it vital?

Not just Audi either, VAG own Porsche too but with Mueller being an ex-Porsche man, one would presume he would favour Porsche over Audi if he had to choose one or the other. Also, Porsche is nice clean Petrol and not tainted by the scandal whereas, Audi is....

Audi wanted to convince the US of its diesels, I understand that was a major factor in the decision to switch to diesel power. After this I wouldn't expect them to pour more money into developing performance diesel racing engines. I'd also have thought, given the dominance of Porsche now, that if there was one company they were going to focus on, it would be them.

he probably meant the Porsche Le Mans car is petrol and not tainted. Not that race cars have to do the test, but there might be some sneering at the Audi diesel and any claims about it being green etc - not that Audi really major on that, they have just made a very efficient and potent race car. Not as potent as the Porsche however!

Roll on 2016 and I think we'll see both Audi and Toyota swap to 8MJ packages (and Nissan installing pedals in the GT-R LM as their hybrid system).

Well. Petrol Porsches and other VAG petrol brands are in the spotlight now.

I hope this doesn't impact the race field next year. 😟

I really hope it doesn't affect them, but playing devils advocate, would VAG teams maybe having slightly less toys to play with help the other teams catch up on pace?????

I think we'll see Toyota back up there next year. I'm sure I remember in some of the WEC coverage it being said Toyota had admitted they had gone the wrong way in a few areas and developed to match what they thought Porsche/Audi were going to do and underestimated.

Nissan on the other hand look like they need an act of god!

Yes,, they had a very good package and they improved on certain aspects of it, they didn't realise how fundamental the changes Audi and Porsche were working on would be though.
