is up and running!

The old one went down a couple of weeks ago due to the change to the new DVSA (I think), the new site no longer requires the MOT test number or the V5 reference number.
Just put the registration in and the make in then you get the MOT history, should make buying cars a little smoother.

Ha. Just found out that the "recommended garage" I took mine to failed my car on items that I knew about beforehand and asked them to carry out in the service before doing the MOT, and then retested it.

Another reason not to go back there.

Thanks, I wasn't aware they had this open to Joe Public. Interesting to see my miles were only around the 5k mark last year. This is down to the other half moving in with me and we tend to use her car for the practical stuff. As a result I could probably have benefited from the cheap 5k allowance lease deals!

That's normal practise. No point doing the repairs, going through the MOT and finding it fails on something else.

Just put my car in and it came up as diesel rather than petrol. Good old DVLA.

Sorry I misunderstood the title. I thought it was a trip down memory lane for bearded enthusiasts of the MOT test. Shame.

Mine also had a number of "Fails" that I was never aware of. Servicing garage obviously putting it through a test before servicing each time.

Nice to see our family car from the 1970s is still running.

It's not a repair, it was swapping two wheels over as I stupidly put them on the wrong way round. Which they also charged me an hours labour for.

This. Trying to explain to a seller of a car that you want to buy that you need the number without coming across like a scammer... Well done DVLA!

I just looked for the 1st Beloved Bora I had when I was 18. Proper STANCE barry mobile, the MOT Notes/Failures since I sold it are comical. Just all fking bushes and bearings, oh and the standard "Wheels protruding from arch"

Doesn't pick up the details of the Saab I got rid of a couple of years ago or my Dad's old car...

Yeah I just tried a car I know is MOT'd and it didn't pick it up, it's not running at 100% atm (beta stage)

Mine is a private plate and picks it up but I tried another with a private plate and it didn't.
Mine is the current format Two letters, two numbers and three letters and the other one isn't so perhaps it's that.

Good spot.

Been using it to check some cars I've been looking at on Ebay.

Have already found one that if you put in the reg and make, the MOT details returned are for the same model of car, but different engine size. They also state the car failed it's last MOT, even though the ad says it has one until next year.

Works for one of our suffix ones, but not the other
