Hi I am looking to do hill climbs/sprints next year and have started to look at the gear I need with a view to buying in the new year once the new rules have come out. The biggest problem I have at the mo is a comfortable cash helmet, my head is to big and apparently to long!! Tried a bell xl no good pressure on forehead and chin sticking out the bottom tried the Arai better, but that was all the shop had in stock in full face car helmet.

Is there any where on the south coast which has a good range of helmets to try on, I would like one at a reasonable cost but the key is clearly to get one to fit properly. I believe Demon Tweeks has a good range but would be 8 hr round trip, is there any where else on the

Why not take a trip to the Autosport show in January. Most of the helmet makes will be represented and you can try them on until your heart's content. Alternatively, Demon Tweeks do a no-quibble returns policy so if you were to order from them online and it didn't fit, they will exchange/refund with no problems.

If you go to Autosport be sure to check out Nicky Grist - the last couple of years they've had guys from Stilo doing custom measuring and fitting.

A trip to Tweaks is worth it for range available to try.
Also I second grist at auto sport, he will fit the correct "innards" to fit your head shape rather than sell you an off the shelf helmet - no extra cost last time I was there.

GPR At Silverstone or Merlin at Castle Coombe are a bit closer than Wrexham. Both normally have a fair selection.

Thanks for the replies, it was Merlin I went to they where very helpful but only had two makes in stock of the type I needed. I am going to wait till the Autoshow and see when Grist come up with as this may be the best solution for me. I had a look at Silverstone but they appear to only have two makes as well. Thanks

It's got to be the show.

Nowhere else will have the range of manufacturers you can actually try on and see what fits you!

I bought my Koden carbon helmet last year from the M&P stand - or technically I didn't, but contacted the seller after the show and he was happy to honut the (quite decent) show discount and get one posted out to me!

Full carbon fibre and excellent quality for £400! biggrin
