4 Seater Import.

New Job lets me be abit more adventurous with the car decisions so im looking at getting something abit unusual and have been looking on the Jap Market.
Need 4 seats but other wise pretty flexible on everything else.
with about 10k to spend. (3k Cash + 7k Finance)
Uk wise i was looking at Subaru Impreza Wagon (GB270/similar) Hawkeye as i just love the look of the estate. (Weird i know). But since having abit more flexibility a few other cars have cropped up.
- Integra Type R
- FD2 Civic
- Accord R
Should i be looking at anything else? Thought this would be the best place to ask!!
ps mpg would be nice @ 22+!

If you can afford the FD2 Civic, then you should get one ahead of any other Honda bar an NSX. They are better in every way than Integras.
Thats coming from someone who's Mrs had a DC5 for 8 years and now has the FD2 (possibly the only female owner of an FD2 in the UK
)
If you do get one - make sure you get the Koni rear shocks, as the standard ones will knock your teeth out

what sort of mpg and tax for the sti? i was looking at the standard XT and getting the PPP

To be brutally honest, as I've said in my blog/thread/rambling/inane chunter, I don't really know. I have, however recently discovered something that I call 'not driving like my balls are on fire' and petrol does appear to be lasting a bit longer.
Balls on fire: about 120 miles to 3/4 a tank or 37.5l give or take
Balls really on fire: less than that.
Commuting, I've just worked out its about 25mpg +/- or, as it pleases me to tell you, no worse than Mrs Noname's FN2 Civic Type R :-) (Edit to add - you know the one with the same K20 as an FD!)
Edit2: Though I have managed to do 12 litres in just under 6 miles once while really cocking about, the smell of rubber and brakes when we stopped was an indication of the go
I have once managed 250 miles to a tank from Devon to Manchester, with a erm high average speed. You know, EXACTLY 70mph.
Tax for mine is £295 for the year, we think Dan's will be the same as both are late 2005 cars.

The FD2 is just so much better than its UK counterpart the FN2. I had an FN2 for 2 years as well, prior to the Mrs getting the FD2.

25mpg i can live with... now its trying to find and STI and FD2 to look at!!

Honda interior:
Seats are great if you have a slightly slimmer arse than mine, not great for long journeys as they are quite hard. Not as hard as the suspension which is errm, jiggly if you're not 'on it' the car wants to be a hooligan all the time, and is just a bit hard for every day. Mrs Noname loves it though... mmmm jiggly.
Other than that, it is GT spec so has most of the stuff you would expect, climate etc. Didn't have bluetooth, but I fitted a Dension BT Gateway Lite to sort that. Plastics are hard but nothing squeaks or rattles, even while in full jiggle, if it weren't for the suspension it would be quite nice. Oh and the car wraps around you, and seems to want you to drive a little laid back - the seat is too high, so even as a short (and fat) arse, I find that my preferred position is 40% gangster lean for optimum comfort.
Oh and VTec lights... its the 'slow' car in our house, but its so much fun thrashing the arse off it, and its just passed 100k miles without missing a beat.

BUT: Mine has the Lux pack, which gives me leather STI buckets, which are very comfy even on long journeys, and as you'll have seen from my thread, I've spent hours and agonised over what infotainment etc was needed, so its spot on for me. The driving position is a little taller than most things which is nice, and the longer travel in the suspension means its really nice and comfy... Its no Citroen on hydractive, nor Rolls Royce, but, and its an important but, it just makes sense in the UK. Once again low speeds its a little firm, but its compliant and controlled elsewhere.
Both cars want to be egged on a lot, both like a thrashing, mine is better day to day, if a bit shouty and angry.

I do like the Subarus interior... i have never had one before so i need to see one to see what its actually like! but looks like its all there.
What does the Lux pack include? i presume its an option which would be quite hard to find!

My brother is collecting a Subaru Legacy Gt spec B manual that I have bought from Japan and shipped over. It's done about 100k kmh, had a recent cambelt service and has all the original mats, wheels and toolkit. It's in the Subaru blue with smart original wheels.
I was going to keep it until u moved back to the UK, but change of circumstances means I will probably sell it. It's an interesting alternative to someone looking for a 280hp car
