Giant (literally) of the game. Wingers weren't supposed to be built like that ...

Sad loss.

Reasonably taken aback by this, even given known health issues.

I'm from the other side of the rugby fence, but played Union at school, so not an anti, even if I struggle with it now, and in the days before pro RU and physical monsters (through good and bad means), I would love to have seen Jonah propery sorted and at his peak playing League.

RIP big guy.

Rest in Peace.

He changed the perception in terms of what a big player could do and he tore England apart at times.
Very sad news

Very sad! As a teenager playing on the wing during the 90’s he was a big influence on me, despite trying I could never run with my knees as high!

sad new for the sporting world. My (not at all sporting) wife saw this before me and her comment was "...Oh my God, JL has died. He must've been good as even I've heard of him..." and I think that that encapsulates his impact the fact that even non-sports fans have heard of him. I'd go as far as to say the first global rugby star (one could actually argue possibly still the only one).

A sad sad loss

Sad news.

Aside from his immense impact as a player, he always came across as a genuinely good person.

How very sad.

Lomu bulldozing Mike Catt in the '95 World Cup is one of the enduring images of rugby.

Liked his cars too. I remember him having some real Godzilla Skylines.

Clive Woodward on the radio this morning:

One of my favourite stories of Jonah was the night before a game I used to list the two teams, and I said in a team meeting: "There's absolutely nobody I'd swap man for man". I was doing my motivational talk. I got to the end and Will Greenwood put his hand up and said: "Clive, we're all with you, but on behalf of all the team, I think we'd swap Austin Healey for Jonah Lomu".

RIP Big Fella.

Very much this. Lomu was a magnificent physical specimen. Just imagine if he had converted - alongside other such fearsome wingers as Vainikolo and Tuingamala

RIP, and deepest condolences to his wife and 2 young boys frown
