Changed the two fronts today from 225 to 235 .So far so good they do not appear to catch inboard and they do fit better on the 9 inch rim. Anybody else gone or going this route?

How do they sit on the rims with the wider tyres.I think I will need to change mines to.Will the 225 still be ok to use they do look stretched.

I have the 235 profile fronts on mine. They catch a bit on full lock but not enough that I'm bothered about it

Much better IMO the 225's definitely were not sitting as well on 9 inch rim as 225's on an 8.5 inch rim did. The rim protector on the 225's was not doing it's job on the 9's .

Not been far with the bigger tyres but no issues as yet. Some tyres are wider for any given width than others ,I do know that Falkens for instance are narrower that other brands .

A brand that comes wider for a given size [225] might do the job. I use Bridgestones and I measured both tyres when I changed them and they were about right.

I have 235s on Speedlines which are also 9" wide fronts and they catch on the inner panel on full lock enough that they'll slow the car to a stop when manoeuvring. They also catch the clam on heavy bumps when turning and have popped the clam out of the side mounts and damaged both blades sufficiently that they need to be filled and repainted.
Next year will be the third year they'll have been repainted. I cannot wait to be shot of 235s

Pretty sure the speedlines were 8.5 inch rims on front.... regardless I have run both 235 and 225 on front of my car without any issues, as stated above it does depend on which tyre you buy as they vary a surprising amount.

I run 225 cups on my 9inch Comps without issues... rim protectors won't help the rim much though, just be careful smile

My mistake - I assumed they were 9" because of the comps I tried previously. Yes different brands come up slightly wider than others, mine are Vredestein (which I wouldn't recommend anyway) and they must be quite wide. Also I'm still on standard springs/shocks which are surely more compliant than they were when new which would obviously aggravate the catching when steering.

Bridgestone Potenza ,I measured them against the old 225 bridgestones I took off and they seemed fairly accurate for size .

Thanks, good to know. I don't know why I'm surprised but there's probably dimensional differences between cars as well regardless of what tyres are fitted. I have white areas on the inside of my clam where the tyre catches on full suspension travel. This is probably what makes the clam pop from its mounting and damage the blade.

My tyres used to hit the clam both sides under braking on track.... I found the springs had softened up (they were protech springs.... fitted a set of Eibach springs and the car was transformed, much nicer on the road and no rubbing on track.

If your running stock springs Im betting yours have done the same.
