I've not heard the current turbo engine cars in person, but after the albeit brief display by a 2011 Mercedes F1 car at ROC last Saturday, the V8...the noise!

Standing next to a Honda v10 (I think) being fired up at Goodwood is a feeling that I will never forget as the sound ripped through my whole body.

Hearing it on track was something to feel also. The shriek...

Its never going to happen now, V8s and V10s have gone and the manufacturers favour small high output engines over the thirsty lumps, let's not forget although they've made a real hash of it Honda would not have come back had it of stayed V8, Renault conceived the idea so of course was in favour, Ferrari is an odd one but the embraced it and ran with the V6 and made a decent fist of it, Merc well they'll just make whatever they're told and generally do a good job of whatever.

V6s are here to stay however I feel there is plenty of room for improvement, twin turbos might be an idea, why not one for heat recovery if they still want to follow that road and the other for the flames, or ditch the MGUH completely AND have twin turbos, ditch the plank so we have flames and sparks, increase revs and fuel allowance.

The only reason I posted the vid was for you all to imagine 24 cars on the starting grid all doing that, like the vid or not I'm certain it would make your hairs stand up, if you say it wouldn't then quite frankly your a liar

The current engine noise is fine, it's quite nice as a spectator to be able to hear the commentary and hold a conversation during the race.

As far as tv viewers go, the noise doesn't feature anyway.
