Audi Q7 - rear lights faulty

Drivers side rear light cluster is completely out now - sometimes 1 bulb works (it has 2 bulbs each side), sometimes both work ok, opening / closing the boot sometimes makes them work!!!!!
Anyone have any experience of temperamental rear lights. Ive changed bulbs so it must be something in the electrical system somewhere? - earth connection but not sure where it is on the rear.

I had a similar fault on my q3. Try the r/h side of the boot under the storage pocket there should be a elec control box with plugs try tapping wiggling plugs could be that box as opening boot changes lights from main cluster to the lower ones. Good luck any how. Richard
