B6 s4 engine upgrades?

I have an Audi s4 Avant v8 and can't help thinking that its under powered especially considering its a 4.2 but only putting out a similar power to an e46 m3 which is a highly tuned engine, so wondered if there were any mechanical upgrades I could to that would compliment a remap to improve the measly 15hp that engine tuners claim they can get from just a re-map alone? thanks!!

Decent exhaust, panel filters, deletion of secondary cat and you'll see a mild lift in power but a good lift in how it feels and revs. I believe MRC tuning have done a few like this.

Mix this with getting it running exactly as it should, nice new plugs and quality fuel.

exhaust surprises me actually, normally cars these days have pretty decent systems as standard I thought, but cool good advice, so a decent system would be just cat back or more? I always use 99 ron any way so all good there and a 40 quid K&N filter off ebay do? cheers for advice

sorry, removing the cat, does not effect MOT and a tuning company told me once that sports cats or removing cat reduce torque, is that right?

As you say the M3 engine is a high reving highly tuned engine. The S4 engine isnt. The RS4 engine is.

So if you spend 10k+ fitting light weight pistons crank, gasflowing heads and have some racer cams designed and ground you could raise the power output to almost as much as an RS4. But these parts are not readily available and it would be cheaper to get a quicker car.

As suggested a good exhaust, air filter + a remap may give you 5%+ increase. Possible 10% if you get tubular manifolds and 200cell cats.
