Hell on my 2009 vantage asm car I have been chasing a problem. I bought the car from a private party and had the dealer do a PPI inspection. The dealer said everything was OK and I bought the vehicle and Now I have found out something is wrong. When the car gets into the higher rpm's above 5000 it seems like it gets confused and there is some delay when you shift gears. Sometimes if you get high ground 6000 to 7000 RPMs it won't take the gear and it will stay in the current gear. I have checked for signs of clutch slips and have not been able to pinpoint anything that seems like the clutch is going out.The other night the car was running and shifting and driving almost perfect then all the sudden the next day it went to crap again. One thing it has done is when you shift say from 2nd to 3rd the gearbox will shift but the cluster will still say the previous gear. This has done this from 1st to 2nd third to fourth and fifth the sixth a couple times . The independent working on the car seems to think it is possibly the gear sensor on the gearbox. Does anyone have any input or experience with the sensor or opinions? When the car does shift its tight and firm. Car drives away from stop lights and reverse fine. It has no shakes or noises etc. I have done clutch learns many times and tried the misfire correction procedures. I have no problem paying someone for there time on the phone with me if they have a idea. It's very frustrating I bought my dream car and his been sitting at the shop for over a month. I have had in my garage for a total of three days.

Try posting in the sponsored Bamford Rose thread, at the top of the Asto nforum page. Or contact David Appleby Engineering - details in the Frequently Asked Questions Wiki, towards the top of the Aston page. Good luck

Take it to the dealer and get them to replot the gear positions using the Aston diagnostic tool.
