Hi everyone first sorry for another what car tgread but I am out of ideas, maybe someone can suggest something I have not thought of.

I have got a Lotus Elise as my only car at the minute but I don't really want to drive it through the winter so I want to buy another car to go along side it.

I want something still fun, don't need anything to pratical. I only have a short commute and I work away alot as well. Would also double as a car to go away with the mrs at weekends and things. She doesn''t like the Elise much, says its to un comfy and noisey!

I want to spend around £4k ish
Petrol
Fun
Something the mrs can sit in for a few hours with out moaning (big ask i know)

Only options I can think of is a Clio 182 but i had a Trophy which was a good example I won't get another one as could so a little reluctent to get another. Would love a Clio 200 but its a bit expensive.

Porsche Boxster 2.5/2.7? They are a little old and have the potential for big bills. Another mid engined, rear wheel drive convertible might not be the best choice though?

Integra Type R id too old

I am out of ideas, thanks

Spend 14p on a 206 GTI. Fast, cheap and almost disposable. Put Chinese tyres on it for added excitement.

Thanks all good ideas. Sorry I just don't like the 197 for some reason. Will look into the mini. That ST looks alot of car for the money, I have never had a "fast ford" either.

If I went for the Subaru i would want a STI, which would be out of budget. Would be good as not had four wheel drive before. 206 GTI, i have had s couple 106 GTI's and loved them. Just thought Peugeot's of that vintage would probably be falling apart now. If they are so cheap though worth a shout

Celica T Sport - unburstable engine, practical enough, reliable, performs decently, very cheap to buy.

I had never given serious consideration to one but bought one earlier this year as a stop gap replacement after selling a Clio 182 - its a great car and better in every way than the Clio

A seriously underrated car

Fiat Grande Punto T-Jet?

Had mine 18 months, cost me little more than consumables and can keep up with a surprising amount of cars.

I bought a tidy, facelift version for £3,500 18 months ago.

All good shouts and I have never thought about them options. The Alpha is lovley, not sure on the Fiat. But I quite fancy the celica, i loved my Clio do if it is better than that would be great.
Only thing I aren't sure about is its got the same engine as my Elise, but it is quite a good engine for what it is!

I bought a daily last year for half your budget - RWD, N/A straight 6 and manual gearbox... that won't happen again!

Also bought a set of wheels with Michelin winter tyres last weekend for £180 - happy days!
