Morning all,

Looking into getting a gaming headset for my Xbox One, mostly because the sound from my TV is pretty bad and I keep missing things in Fallout.

Anyway with the black friday nonsense going on it seems a good time to buy, so what's recommended?

Wired vs wireless - I sit around 2/3 metres from the screen so wireless would be ideal, but is the added convenience worth the extra cost? When it comes to headphones I always go for wired for the reliability factor, and not having to faff about charging... how long do these headsets last with a full charge?

Total noob to this, so any help appreciated.

Cheers
Dan

Hi,
just went through this nonsense for my XB1.

Basically wireless you are sort of limited to the Turtle Beach Elite 800x however its £200 and the mic is built into the headset and many say its poor at picking up your voice.

I went for the XO Four Stealth. It was £80 reduced to £60 in Argos, it comes ith the little insert that goes into the bottom of the controller and the headset goes into that, so its wireless from the XBOX, but wired to your controller, whxih i dont mind.

If you have an elite controller, the headset plugs directly into the controller without the need for the adaptor, but you lose some functionality, like quick mute etc.

I would advise if you dont want to use a mic, get a decent set of headphones from any retailer (i have a beats set too) these work fine with the adaptor unit that plugs into the xbox controller, they are about £20 separately.

the turtle beach headset comes with one in the box smile

Hope that helps

Edit - beaten to it.

Depends on what kind of money you want to spend and the quality of sound you want to get.

The turtle beach xo 4 stealth are supposed to be decent and are currently on offer at pc world for £60 (were £90). These plug into your pad so no wires across the room.

These are only stereo sound and if you want surround sound you'll have to pay quite a lot more for a good pair.

Thanks both, I've just been looking at the XO4 reviews on YouTube and a lot of people are comparing it to the Official Xbox one - I didn't actually know this existed but it seems good value at £35.

Going to head to PC world later on and check out both.

Go for surround sound if your budget will allow, makes a big difference in some gamepla.

I don't think I'm "that" into gaming yet to spend daft money on a headset for surround sound - maybe in the future!

Just been out on lunch and spotted the Xbox official headset at £35 in a localish game shop. They didn't have the XO4 to compare but did have the XO one which is a bit cheaper. I went for the Xbox one!

thanks for the responses.
