reversing lights
Discussion
Lots of problems with the rear light bulb holders which is definitely worth a second check. Hopefully it's not the switch because it sounds like the exhaust has to come off to get to it http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=15&...

Geoffrey is in Belgium, I'm not sure of MOT regs there.

Ah! good point, never spotted that.Glen
Thanks for your useful messages.
MOT's for oldtimers is very strict in Belgium, the car needs to be as described by the manufacturer. For instance, if you replaced brake pipes by non genuine parts such as 'goodridge' or 'hel', the car will fail the MOT.

Geoffrey

I would definitely struggle because my Austin definitely doesn't even look like a Tasmin, which is what he is registered as on the V5.Thanks for your useful messages.

I always thought TVR used whatever bits they could get their hands on at the time. I bet there are no identical S's out there.
So Geoffrey, does this mean that there are no modifications allowed at all under the Belgian MOT regulations?

Yes, that's correct. As I don't want to remove the 'Hel' brake lines of my TVR, a garage suggested to fit new pipes on top of the 'HEL' brake lines, so that it looks genuine parts. The garage will carry out the work this week. I'll let you know if it goes through the MOT?
Hello all and Geoffrey, as you know Geoffrey my car has non original brake pipes and even not original wheel dimensions and I went throug MOT in august and without any problem and I am not sure but they even did not test the reverse lights.
Maybe am I lucky but my car went throug 2 different mot stations in the 5 years I own the car.
DO YOU THINK THEY KNOW ALL THE SPECIFICATIONS of our cars, most of them never
have seen one.
Who made you so scared about mot in belgium.
ps: I realy hope that they do not change!!!!!
Regards.
Christian.

Salut Christian,
I visited 'Passion Engineering' http://www.passionengineering.eu/ , the TVR specialist in Belgium, its only 5 miles from my home. I have been told that my TVR would fail the MOT with 'Hel' brake pipes. I have done all I could do myself on it and my best to bleed the brake system but with very disappointing result.
As I have very little service history of the car, I've put it in this garage for a full check up, to resolve the exhaust and brake problems and for a proper tuning of the engine.
I just hope that it won't cost me too much and that it will sail through the MOT.
Best regards,
Geoffrey
