so yesterday I had to go to a funeral. Whilst following the hearse and 'close relative car' we had to drive down a narrow street 3/4 of the way down some fktard driver decided that respectfully waiting for the main 2 cars to pass wasn't for them as it was their right of way and so tried to squeeze past, forcing the hearse to pull in to a (not large enough) space between parked cars, eventually mounting the pavement to ensure that she could get past (probably late for some pies and a ciggy). Seriously, how fked up do you have to be to not want to wait 10 seconds or so to let a hearse and funeral car drive by?

I do sympathise but if the other person had "the right of way" then they are well with in their rights to expect the other vehicles to abide by the law.
There is a time and a place for "I have right of way so I am coming through". A funeral procession heading against you is not that time.If it helps, I've been in a funeral procession where when the lights went green, the other traffic all sat and waited until our lights changed and we could ensure we remained in the procession. I thought that really was a day of human (good) nature coming to the fore. They could have all driven across and split up the procession, but no-one did. And no-one complained either.
I've also stopped and allowed a procession to get down a road (turning in front of me) - I let the whole lot of them go so they were not split (I have to confess I thought of this mainly due to my experience about a few years before).
There are few rules in life. But don't be an ass**le is one of them.

If they didn't have right of way, then they are retards. (the other person I mean & not the funeral people)
It was not that long ago when people used to stop what they were doing, take their caps off and pay a little respect. If they didn't have right of way, then they are retards. (the other person I mean & not the funeral people)
This all comes down to the me me me, now now now selfish culture we now live in.

Oh dear. And there, in a single post, shows what some people on pistonheads have become.
The Crem round me, pretty much has a right turn into the road its on, and every funeral I've ever attended resulted in the people stopping on the main road, to let the Funeral and other cars pass in front of them. Older people and some younger ones taking off hats and having a quick nod in respect.
I hope my kids respect others in the same way when they are older

Some people are very very impatient.
It can cause quite a few problems splitting up a funeral procession, so I'd always try not to do it.
I recall the last one I attended. The funeral cars would almost stop on a roundabout to cause traffic on the roundabout to stop, and us drivers were instructed to follow close and not to let anyone break into the convoy. It did annoy a few people, but in that area they should have been used to them...

Please get of your high horse because I wasn't saying it was right!
Is it bad form to overtake a hearse with a "passenger" ?
I was behind one on a NSL stretch of road, very wide, plenty of opportunity to pass.. I trundled on at 30 for a bit, but after the 3rd or 4th car overtook the pair of us I just went for it..
Not sure if I was being a badman or not..

Flip side to the coin, I was at a funeral a couple of weeks ago and I was in my normal car with the close family following the hearse, so nobody would have known we were with it/linked.
People were stopping on the middle of roundabouts, letting us out of junctions and generally being very thoughtful, to even consider that the car behind may be with it and not to cut in directly behind.
I was very shocked.
