Right, I've just got back into PC gaming in a big way. I love the simplicity and ease of playing on consoles but I've realised I've been missing out on some great games you just don't get on consoles.

With that in mind I've gone a little shopping spree and the Steam sale couldn't have come at a better (read dangerous) time.

Elite Dangerous - Original Price £29.99, bought for less than £10. Was on the fence about this but at less than a tenner it would be rude not to.

Dawn of War Franchise - Original price £99 bought for £24.99. Every single bit of Dawn of War content, I had great fun playing a few of these first time round but this includes DoW and DoW 2 as well as every single DLC and expansion.

Homeworld Remastered Collection - Original Price £29.99 bought for £9.99. Again had a great time playing the first one and not played the second, this is a fully remastered version with updated graphics and it's ace

So over to you, what have you bought, planning to buy or have spotted in the Steam sale?

Witcher 3 is -50%. I'm playing it at the moment and it's brilliant, and possibly the best graphics of any game I've played.

Massive fan of the DoW games; still play them on a regular basis.

Be warned, do not get too excited about DoW 2. It is majorly different from the first series and scrapped base building. Massive let down to be honest.

Oohh I've wanted Witcher 3 ever since seeing it get rave reviews and now might be the perfect opportunity. I can feel my wallet weeping already at this sale. The problem is how do I get the time to play them all?

Yeah I know DoW 2 is different and the campaign is not really a proper story like the first either. Still for the price, I don't think you can go far wrong. Really narked they haven't made a DoW 3 tbh. Long overdue.

Too true, I think I got a similar deal on them 6 months back.

I think the poor reception of DoW 2 may have stopped that; kind of like Command and Conquer unfortunately frown

Yes to Starcraft LoV as I have the other two expansions but I have too many games to play at the moment so I think I'll just wait till it's on sale. smile

Nothing is coming up in the store section of mine - presuming the sale is a tad busy.

Rocket League looks good, car football at it's finest.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas if you haven't played them already, ultimate editions both £5.09. Even if you have played them with mods they can be completely different. Especially if you get both and use the mod to combine the 2 into 1 game...

FSX is a steal at that price.

Also, for driving sims:
Pcars
AC
Rfactor 2
Dirt Rally

All discounted and all worth owning.

I bought all of the following in the Halloween sale for the princely sum of £11.59:
  1. Bioshock (in list - not downloaded)
  2. Grim Fandango
  3. The Witcher (in list - not downloaded)
  4. Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines (currently occupying my spare-time)
I am refraining from making any more purchases because I still have an iOS backlog, and a couple of titles to finish on my xBox (which has started the 4 flashing green rings error - both controllers are linked to xBox. Very annoying)

Don't I know it. I have a copy of the original Witcher still in its cellophane-wrapped box!

Anything recommended from the current Steam sale?

Looking for something that will be slow burner over the winter months with a bit of depth.

Got Arma 3 but there are a fair few packs on sale - not sure I need them until I know it's up my alley.

Got most of the flight sims/driving sims already so looking for something a bit different.

Current sale is a bit disappointing - you'll find the best bargains by looking around the various digital stores/key resellers.

These sites do a summation but it's worth browsing the various stores yourself:
https://gg.deals/deals/new-deals/
https://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/

As for games, just the old standards really. Anything older than about a year usually has decent discounts, two years or more is usually huge discounts especially if you catch an offer. Things like Divinity Original Sin 2 , Doom Eternal/2017 , Death Stranding , Days Gone, Any of the Bioshocks, Bayonetta, any of the Dishonored series, No Man's Sky etc are all pretty good and can usually be got at a good price any time if you look around. And that's just a small selection of slightly older AAA big name games, there are tons of smaller games and Indies which are fantastic and usually very cheap.

I picked up Doom and Hollow Knight. I haven't played Hollow Knight yet but it has decent reviews and it's a fiver so I thought I'd pick it up over a car lottery ticket this week laugh

I bought Cult of the Lamb, not my usual type of game but it is brilliant! A surprising depth for something that seem so simple at first, I'm hooked. You build a cult, crawl through dungeons, level up and repeat - but it's the cult management and the story/graphics that rise it up, some of the characters you meet etc, great fun!
