Looking to add a new trolley jack to my Christmas list.

What to buy? Want to use under front of ultima with clam still attached so low profile and long reach seems important. Any recommendations welcome.

Clarke Strong Arm 2 Tonne Low Entry from Machine Mart. Works for me even though it's not a lightweight.

I've got one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Liftmaster-2-25-Ton-Low-...

It's a nice jack, plenty low enough, but I'd suggest getting a longer jack for a bit more flexibility, especially at the front end.

i use these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LASER-TOOLS-5669-CAR-RAM...

then you can use a normal jack... low enough to roll the car on by pushing, light and easy to store

saw these in costco..... although 10.2 cm min height might be a tight fit under the front....

I'm liking the look of the liftmaster though! is it reasonable quality?
looking at over 250 for a bluepoint one I would have thought?

I spent £500 and got a s/h four post lift that allows me to walk under the car.

If you can fit one in, they make working on a car very easy.

Today I was mostly refitting the dampers to my Ultima. Tomorrow I will be mostly changing the rear discs on my Discovery, at waist height.

I think the Liftmatser is sold in many variants, it looks identical to a Pittsburgh low profile sold here in the US by Harbor Freight. I have 3 of them and they work well, albeit not particularly long reach. My solution is a pair of low profile ramps to get that extra clearance if required.

I also have a 4 post lift, which was the best money I spent, not only for work access but it provides an extra parking space! If you don't have room and spend a lot of time under the car consider these if available in the UK; http://www.quickjack.com/ Available through Summit Racing and other good retailers.
