Which estate car manufactured in the last 10 years has the widest boot floor between the wheel wells? i.e. which car will hold the widest piece of plywood flat across the floor?

All these figures in overall litres are not much use.

Are you including MPVs or just specifically estate cars?

Just estates really, I don't need much load height and i don't have a family. The widest I have found so far is the Audi A6 Avant at 105cm.

I can't find any site that lists boot opening or width. I'm guessing the E-Class, V70 and Skoda Superb are in the same ballpark as the A6.

Just went out and measured the width between the arches of my Mk3 Mondeo estate - 111cm. It's like a cave in there!

Edited: Now I'm just being nosey - Whatcha trying to fit in?

The older E class estate (W210?) can fit nearly a whole 8x4 sheet in the back, I can't remember if it laid flat or not though.

I have sold the car so can't measure, the newer shape ones appear slightly smaller though if <10years is a must.

W210 e-class always looked huge to me. Probably similar to recent Mondeos.

What about something like a Citroen Berlingo?

I spent a lot of time recently researching boot dimensions trying to find a "proper" estate rather than the sloping rear that seems to adorn so many tourers in order to give best space to our dog.

I found http://www.rica.org.uk/carfilter to be a fantastic resource and it provided lots of boot and height measurements. The site is aimed at those buying cars for those who are disabled or struggle with mobility. But it gives boot sizes, height from the ground etc
