Been seeing a few nice improvised shakers involving a jig saw etc. Don't have one my self and no real need for one (jigsaw), anyone built one from a motor and off set a clamp on a disc that is not centred on the spindle? Or some other DIY.

Some idea's on the net, and one off the shelf (in the US) that looks shonky.

Might have a punt at a Mapins motor and see what comes of it, one of the paint types I have is well and truly separated and shaking so much I have wrist ache. At least that is the story I am sticking to when the mrs queries the wrist.

Yeah, bit too much I think but see the idea. Just tried taping a bottle to an electric knife with one blade, it mixes it but leaves some pigment clumped. Need to re think the shaking in one plane.

I find one of these invaluable:

There's a Chinese version on that site too from Trumpeter which costs £7.

Saw that in my search, but the bottles are like dropper bottles. Hataka, but thinking for the usual enamel pots as well.

Some motors are up there in price with the shaker above. Heck.

Going to need me thinking cap.

A small marine grade stainless steel nut will do wonders as an agitator.

When I was a kid my Dad had one of those "Phillips" portable radios that you could fit in a car. This was long before DIN radio mounts of course, it used to hang under the dash.

Every time we got a new car, within a couple of days the radio was fitted under the dash, but when I next got my Meccano set out some of the long angle girders were shorter than they used to be...

When I used to use Humbrol I made a "stirrer" that was piece of thick wire bent into a "T", poked through the hole drilled in an old paint tin lid and them pop it in the paint and give it a good whizz for a minute or so. Worked well enough. For modern acrylics I pop a ball bearing or a small glass bead into the bottle and shake!

It was just the little bottles, shaking one up it does seem to have a bearing in it but it took a while and could never seem to get a good mix without getting fed up of shaking.

That contraption above needs a bit more work but its there. That arm waves back and fore shaking the bottle depending on the orientation the bottle is fixed to the arm.

Shakes it self apart at the moment and the motor is not up to it but the basics are there, besides, been a bit of fun. Got some aluminium kicking around in the garage but need some BA sized lock nuts.

Don't laugh, but just bought one of these for £4 and tried it with one of those starter set pots from an airfix set... did a suprisingly good job!
