I haven't seen one of those before, is it the 335i 3.0 twin turbo motor? If so, you'll love it! Very nice ride.

It's an Alpina D3 BiTurbo - 2.0 diesel, 214bhp, 330+ lb/ft torque. (the latest version is 3.0 & fast as f**k)

Take a gander here to read a bit more about Alpina

http://www.alpina-automobiles.co.uk/en/

The interio combo sets it off too

Very nice motor. I have the 330d, M sport convertible now the TVR is gone. Chipped to give 241bhp and the straight six lump is so smooth and quick.. Cannot see me returning to an S for now . Enjoy the ride.

It didn't occur to me that it would be a diesel, but that's a great idea. Loads of torque is all you need to have fun on modern roads. The interior is stunning, especially if you don't have young'ns to mess it up. I've got the 335i manual for the long, wet trips and it has been very dependable. A chap down the road had an Alpina B7 but he sold it before I had a chance to scope it out, but that is the only Alpina that I've seen stateside.

Both my sons have had 330d's, an amazing engine, I have managed to get 60 mpg with carefull but not slow driving. Always wondered if it would fit in the S.

It would need some serious extra weight to hold the back end down. Rearend is light enough as is in the BMW, even with a full tank, an S with all that power would be a hand full, and the economy I averaged 36 mpg over a 2000 mile road trip round cornwall, devon and somerset, the top down for all but 100 miles.
I am sure there are guys on here that could adapt the chassis to suit. If you can get over the "diesel in a TVR" stigma....!

Nice one Max...maybe you need to organise another Blyton park track day and invite us up and take us to the pub in it so we can assess it....obviously we can walk back after....such a pleasant stroll ... wink
