Has anyone got pictures of their car in black amethyst? I am looking for some close up shots of the paintwork to see the pigmentation as most pics I have been able to find on the internet are in lighting where it simply looks black and I want to see how purple it is in sunlight.

Thanks

I have a car in Black Amethyst...and I have had a look through the few photos I have taken of it, and the photos of when it was in the dealership. To be absolutely honest it looks black in all of them. There is a definite difference to the Ultimate black as the pigmentation is 'purply'. In winter sun it looks black. In summer sun (and I don't have any photos), it does have a purple hue which really sets it apart. I know this response is less than helpful....probably your best bet is to see actually it in the flesh. Or....google it and look at the images.

Thanks Brin, would you say this is representative of it in sunlight....

Im looking at respraying my 1975 XJ coupe and was looking for a modern black that is more interesting than Ultimate / Midnight so the option is of Amethyst or its replacement Blackberry but i can find even less pictures of that!

Sorry, just seen this thread.

My XKR was Black Amethyst. This bonnet photo was in bright sunlight, but 90% of the time it just looked black.

Those photos do look like the amethyst on my car....but the last one from Lady Topaz does appear more purple than I remember....it hasn't been sunny enough recently for the car to really shine. I do think the colour is stunning and I personally prefer it over ultimate black.

Looks a bit brown to me. I want a purple feature. Wonder how the new Blackberry differs from amethyst

I've an XF in Black Amethyst. It looks black all the time and everyone who looks at it thinks it's flat black. It's only the slightest purple hue if you look hard in very bright sunlight. I've tried allsorts, including different polishes and waxes to bring it out, but to no avail.
Fortunately I bought second hand, so it wasn't me who paid extra for it and I do like black cars!
I do suspect our UK light may have something to do with it though, as it did show up a little more when I took it to the South of France in the Summer (but that that much!)

If you're looking for the purple hue, then I'd definitely look for another colour!

I've included a photo taken on a sunny day.

If you want a purple colour the most recent Jaguar colour is Caviar

The older XK came in Amaranth

It does not look brown, it is a very deep red.

Jaguar used to use a colour called Morello cherry on the top end cars. I recall this could definitely be seen to have colour in it.

Most of the modern Jaguar blacks with a red tone simply look like black most of the time, especially in the UK "sunshine".
