My van recently broke down, and the garage told me they think it needs a replacement cylinder, or possibly a whole new engine. I had been considering buying a new van anyway and decided it wasn't worth my while fixing my van so have bought a newer one. I now want to sell my old van for the best price I can get.

It is a 56 plate Ford Transit Connect with 99,000 miles on the clock. As I said, I don't think it is worth my while to go through the hassle and expense of having it fixed and then selling it myself, but I'm sure someone could get it running and get some half decent cash for it. I recently had a new EGR valve fitted, which cost £450 alone, so I would hope to get at least £500 for parts. It still starts and just about drives, but the engine knocks and its pretty smokey. I live in Bristol so it could be driven to somewhere not too far away, but would probably need to be towed any significant distance.

Any suggestions on the best way to get rid of it for the most money?

Many thanks
