You can normally check the build detail of a Ford car by selecting the Vehicle link here: https://www.etis.ford.com/ and inputting the reg or VIN. Doesn't always work for ex Ford owned cars. HTH

95% sure its the same engine as found in the fiesta st mk7 so should also feature the 15 second overboost to 197nhp for 15 seconds.

I have the fiesta, great engine can average 50+ on a motorway run when driving on a motorway at 65-70, but quickly drops down to high 20s to mid 30s when going more normal speeds.

Great at overtaking in the fiesta it feels almost diesel like in torque delivery but can be revved nicely.

Had the fiesta 1 year and gave average 36mpg over 11k miles and thats with some very spirited driving.

Should feel fine carrying the extra weight of the focus but obviously wont be a rocket ship.

Reliability wise, only having it a year nothing has gone wrong with it but I also haven't heard any horror stories from other owners, and service costs are very reasonable, paid 130 for 1st year service and expect to pay 250 or so for 2nd year.

I have virtually the same engine, but in a Volvo V60 T4. There's very little info on this engine online, as it's not as popular as the 1.0 Ecoboost. I certainly haven't seen any horror stories posted.

The Volvo is a little heavier than the Focus, but I find it slightly lacking in torque. For a turbo-charged engine it still needs working quite hard to get full performance from it. I've been pleasantly surprised by the fuel economy, I've had up to 48mpg on a long run, and I can get close to 40mpg on my relatively short commute.
It's fairly refined in the Volvo, but like most direct injection engines, it can sound a little 'diesel-like' at times.

It's probably hard to gauge in the UK as we buy so many diesels.

Probably not relevant, and probably a one off, since I've not heard of it happening to anyone else, but my mates 10 month old Fiesta with that engine just chewed up a CV joint and spat it out the boot in little bits.

Possibly not the same gearbox, and definitely not the same driveshafts, but I thought I'd post it anyway.
Obviously a manufacturing fault.

The 1.6 GDTI in the Focus is a good engine. I know of no issues with it. It is a Sigma-family engine with direct injection and obviously turbo-charging. Was replaced for MY15 with the 1.5GTDI (same family, shorter stroke).

It's the same base engine as goes in the Fiesta ST.

Again not a direct comparison but our 2011 S-Max has the 240bhp 2.0 Ecoboost engine and it has been completely reliable with 71k miles currently on the clock (62k miles under our ownership), so I would have no qualms buying a 1.6 Ecoboost Focus. We’re averaging 29-30mpg, but that’s with very little town driving, so I reckon I’d get north of 40mpg out of an Ecoboost Focus which others are already confirming is possible.
The servicing schedule in the UK is 12,500 miles / 12 months and I would recommend following this if it’s the same in NL as the 2.0 engine becomes noticeably grumpy around the 12k mile mark with symptoms that are in line with spark plugs and filters needing changed, which I think is symptomatic of direct injection technology. UK servicing costs are relatively cheap which is also a bonus.

Also, I think the Ecoboost engines respond well to re-mapping if that’s of any interest to you. The 2.0L has options ranging from 260-300bhp, and there’s a chap on here with a 1.0 Ecoboost Fiesta which has been re-mapped.

According to Monture no doubt wink

Not saying it isn't the case but just be careful with taking claims made by people who are trying to sell you stuff at face value.

Ford sell the Mountune upgrade and warrant it.
