It's been brewing for a long time, like the judge says sort it out amongst yourselves.

There's one positive to this though - I've been to see Hooky a few times recently in smaller and cheaper venues than NO do now. Great night out smile

Saw Hooky in Manchester recently was a very good night, used O2 priority to book tickets for next year in Manchester as well.

I really don't think Hooky wants to rejoin New Order to be honest, he is pretty disparaging about them every time he is interviewed. The other 3 seem to have the same opinion of him so unfortunately it appears the original New Order has run its course, shame really. When he finally publishes his version of the New Order story that will probably be the final straw although Barney got off lightly in "Unknown Pleasures". On face value Hooky seems to have seen off quite badly with royalties, can understand why he is so bitter.

Love the Music Complete album though so actually maybe this divorce is for the best when you compare it to the last few albums. Being too young to see JD live we get the best of both worlds now as New Order doing JD just isn't as good as The Light in my opinion. Coincidence that New Order finally started to play JD stuff after Hooky so successfully did, probably not.....

Agree totally that Hooky is great live and seen him quite a few times with The Light, absolutely excellent every time and showed me what New Order miss live now. Put it this way I didn't bother going to their recent gigs despite Music Complete being so good.

That said I didn't think I'd see Lol Tolhurst on stage with The Cure again in the UK but I did at the RAH at the Reflections gig, that was after a pretty bitter court case with Robert Smith so who knows?

A truly unique 'one off' bassist that gave 70% of the distinctive sound that New Order had.
He didn't just play the route note as most standard bassist do, he played 'melodic' notes, and he played what he wanted.

Good luck to him.

I was thinking when I saw him recently that he was one of the main reasons, if not the main reason why I like NO. So when I saw NO without him, it felt like there was something missing, much less so when I saw PH without NO.

Barney's not the greatest of singers and PH's guitarist was quite handy. Stephen Morris' shoes take some filling though.

"Never go back" they say - usually with good reason.
I think Hooky's bridges with NO have probably been burned, but when I listen to Music Complete, there are parts where I can't help thinking "Hooky would have played that better".
Not really a fan of Revenge. Monaco were OK. Did some good work with Hybrid (Dogstar for example).

I've seen "The Light" a couple of times and they're good to see (especially as someone said, for the Joy Division stuff), but, whether you like Bernard's voice or not, he's the vocal sound of New Order and always will be.

I saw New Order recently and they were truly excellent - I'd enjoyed seeing them in 2012, but the recent tour (in Brixton at least) was so much better!

I'm not entirely surprised Hooky's sueing, but it's a shame they can't just sort it out like grown ups...

I think you're mistaking musicians for grown ups again...

I've seen them a few times over the years and my last gig (at Brixton in 2012) was really poor, Barney's vocals at their worst plus rubbish sound and no Hooky. Decided that night I wouldn't go and see them again as didn't want to ruin my memories of a great band, just felt they were going through the motions.

Fast forward 3 years and they've made the best album since '89 plus the reviews were excellent for the shows. But for me Peter Hook's bass playing (live and studio) and his integral contribution to the NO sound is as important or more so than Barney's vocals so I'm still out I'm afraid.

Don't really think they've seen eye to eye for many years, I remember the show at Reading in 93 where you could feel the animosity between Hooky and the rest just watching them from the audience. On the plus side though I'm really looking forward to a lot more "The Light" gigs plus Hooky's New Order memoirs next year, should be interesting.....
