I nearly bought this car 3yrs ago..

It was Steve (surname escapes me - TVR dealer)'s personal project. It was originally Viper blue. The Cat C was for flood damage. He bought it in 2010 and spent some fairly major wedge on it, with the work being done at Central TVR.

I still have the e-mail conversation I had with him at the time. Interestingly it is up for the same money it was being sold for in 2012.

That is a gorgeous looking car, and it does sound as if it has been pampered. The leather, especially the drivers bolster, looks good too and that 31k seems believable.

However it's a shame there are no photos illustrating the chassis and outrigger condition, and that replaced parts list amounts to just a few hundred quid, not thousands.

Alternator £144
Coil packs £20 ea
Spark plugs £18 set
Battery £130 (looks like Optima)
Map (TPS?) sensor £15
Lambda sensors £80 ea

Total £500 plus Sports Exhaust, however that exhaust has no value at all, you can have mine in return for nominal donation to Help for Heroes.

Worth mentioning the three obvious modifications:

Battery access - beautifully done

Light conversion - looks very professional in those pics

Air filters - not such a good idea as the Cerb engine bay get's notoriously hot, you would want to return that to stock

The list that was replaced before his ownership is far more extensive, I imagine he may be including that in his "calculation".. Maybe it was +labour also?!

Since I have owned the Cerb its been a bit of a labour of love as I have completed the following which would have cost an average Cerbera owner in excess of £9'500.00.

25/01/2011 Full 12000 mile service as per TVR's service schedule plus:-

Adjusted valve clearances
Replaced fuel cap
Replaced window control box
Replaced N/S Top, O/S Top and O?S Lower suspension arms
Fitted Gaz adjustable suspension (all 4)
Replaced inlet manifold
Modified front indicators
Fitted correct battery
Replaced front and rear screen rubbers
Fitted new door rubbers
Replaced fuel pipes
Moved front indicators to side light pods
Fitted rear OEM afterburners (Painted mat black)
Replaced side indicators with clear
Full colour change respray in star mist grey metallic
Fitted stainless steel kick plates
Skimmed disks
Fitted new brake pads
Fitted new Ram air air filters
Set up throttle pots
Replaced stereo for iPhone compatible unit
New Tyres (less than 500 miles)
Fitted Refurbished 18" spider alloys painted to my own specification of light course silver over full wheel white (gives a slight pearl effect)
Wheel steering rack stops to eliminate arch foul
Rear hub modification to accommodate spider wheels
Waxoiled chassis
Carbon fibre screen edges de-lacquered (dull original natural fibre finish)
Fully waxed 3 coats to all upper surfaces and 2 full coat elsewhere
New rear silver and black rear badge (to be fitted this week)
Replacement interior (magnolia and dark grey) (to be fitted this week)

In addition to what I have done in my ownership (list above) the Cerbera has an unusual alloy handbrake lever a sports stainless steel exhaust which is de-catted and front "Speed six" headlight pods blended in as well as a private plate P19OFU (I was going to change this as it is intended to read Piss Of You however it seems to suit the car somehow and no one really notices!)

I remember that now you mention it, he did seem to do the job properly it has to be said.

For this money the car has to be worth a look.

Tbh, I did get the impression it was properly sorted.. It was just the Cat C I couldn't get my head round.. For the money now though, this could be a little gem depending on the chassis condition.

Funny enough, it looks like it ended up local to me anyway!

Thanks for the info, surprising what comes up with just a little post on here! Im not overly fussed about cat d/c cars as long as they have been fixed properly, do you remember if the owner at the time knew much about how bad the flood damage was? Ive found its Important they are ther right price aswell as they are difficult to sell on when the time comes no matter how nice they are. Ive had a really nice rs4 and impreza wr1 both on the register but both really nice cars, and took ages to shift them, just ended up taking less than i hoped i'd get for them.

The chap that rebuilt this car is/was on here and I think there was a thread on the work being carried out but how to find it I have no idea.

I do remember that the work was extensive and thinking to my self "good, another one saved".

At this price I would think you are safe come resale time, however, once you get your hands on one resale may be a lot further out than you envisaged, they sure do get under your skin these cars.
