Got to wonder about the longevity of the remaining NA engines in the lineup..........

Finally! What the 991 Turbo has needed is more pace!!

In seriousness, I don't see the point of the 991.2 Carrera given that it will have a (worse) turbo engine than the Turbo. It's cheaper. That's it, right?

Contrast the 997and 991.1, where a lot of people (me included) prefer the Carrera 2 and 2 S to the Turbo.

The 996 Turbo is regarded by many as too capable and yet every model since has got more and more power...are they fun to drive within legal limits?

Not really....we are talking apples and pears.

We all know the TTs isn't the kind of vehicle designed to throw round a track (unlike the GT3), so one could question whether this greater performance has any benefit for legal road use.

Are you saying the TTs is likely to have more driver involvement than a GT3? That would be a first.

A higher price would be entirely justifiable if we are getting value from a car....but whilst the 991.1 TTs initially held its price reasonably well due to restricted supply, historically and in the short term these are hefty depreciators indicative of too high a price when new. Totally unlike the GT3.

The depreciation issue is non-trivial, no doubt. I have been pleasantly surprised by my RS experiences which turn out to be ridiculously affordable when resale is taken into account.

Yep or like any 911, or pretty much most cars. Hell, my x5 diesel
has more power and speed then anyone actually needs or could possibly legally use on the road

Oh dear, whats happened to the Porsche buyer. All these comments why do you need the power, you can't use the power on the road, not a track car....... I say go to the skoda forum where you will meet like minded people coffeelaugh

I have just had a look at the 991.1 Turbo S's for sale and am amazed that hardly any of them have the leather dash.

How much were these cars new? Surely the leather dash should have been standard.

I know that a leather dash does not anything dynamically to the car but surely it should be standard on a super-fast-turbo-911-luxo-barge

Not long after the 991.1 Turbo S came out, we saw one at Leeds OPC with 100 miles on, when queried, the sales guy told us the owner had picked the car up, done a few miles, then scared himself with full throttle and sold it back to the OPC, quite a bath was taken I understand! eek

I can only assume he wasn't used to a powerful car... So, let make it faster anyway! biggrin

I expect those hp figures a very conservative. I would not be surprised if the 991 turbo S has well over 600bhp even the gen 1. Blistering quick car already. No harm having a bit more power though

why more detached?

although I would rather they just updated the ICE stuff and lost 30-50kg than added power

still the ultimate all-weather 2+2 supercar, if budget not limited

Here we go I'm going to say the wrong thing. So the new Turbo S has a very small percentage increase in BHP; somehow I feel that this is little more than a stop gap model. There is something coming because there needs to be. The 911's problem will not be power or torque but weight. I believe I'm correct in saying that the new McLaren 570S is approximately 300Kgms lighter than the Porsche giving it about an 85BHP/ton advantage.

I'm sure I read that Andreas was quoted as saying that reducing weight not power was the way forward . This ultimately will mean an entirely new model must be on the cards probably with a carbon tub. I do not wish to buy a Macca as I am shortly to be driving my GT3RS, which is a car that I believe will represent the end of a glorius line. I have no intention of flipping or indeed selling just driving and do you know, I can't wait!
